Description:  A major client in New York City is seeking a Market Data Manager to manage all aspects of the firm's market Data. The position reports to the Head of Global Enterprise Technology Services and will head a Team of 6 employees and 2 off-shore resources. The Team is responsible for technical and financial management of market Data including:
  • Implementation of new Market Data systems
  • Technical support of market Data infrastructure, working closely with other infrastructure groups (networking, security, desktop, and systems)
  • Business analysis to define requirements and recommend potential solutions
  • Contract negotiations with market Data vendors
  • Inventory management and reporting to end users to provide cost transparency
  • Billing administration and user charge back in association with Accounts Payable and IT Finance staff
Requirements:  Required skills for this position include:
  • 5+ years experience working in Market Data in a user environment (i.e. not working for a vendor)
  • 3+ years experience managing a team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of daily interaction with executive level management
  • Excellent knowledge of traditional market Data vendors such as Bloomberg, FactSet, and Thomson Reuters
  • Vendor management and contract negotiation experience
  • Willingness and experience assisting other group members - technical and administrative - with service requisition and application / business support
  • Basic technical knowledge of infrastructure technology
  • A Bachelor's Degree
In addition, the following skills are highly desirable:
  • Investment management experience
  • Knowledge of research service providers such as FactSet
  • Experience of soft-dollar market Data management
  • Wombat platform experience
  • Knowledge of FITS or other market Data inventory tools
